Two holiday musical performances that benefit the Goodfellows Club led Kaye and J.D. Farmer to give to the charity.
The couple who live on West Cloverdale Drive donated $25 in honor of members of the "Messiah" and "Two from Galilee."
Kaye Farmer said they loved both productions, which "probably prompted me to donate."
She attended the events partly because she had ties with both.
"Special friends of ours were in ('Two from Galilee')," she said of real-life couple Travis and Tara Estes, who played Joseph and Mary in the six performances at Owensboro Christian Church.
"We call (Tara) our special daughter," Kaye Farmer said.
Kaye Farmer is a 52-year member of First Christian Church, which is where the Owensboro Choral Society performed the annual production of Handel's "Messiah."
"After I went to 'Messiah,' I had planned to donate to Goodfellows," she said.
She later noticed that "Two from Galilee" also benefited the organization, so she grabbed her checkbook and made a donation in honor of performers of both productions, she said.
