Donations continue to pour in

With the 92nd annual Goodfellows Club Christmas party for needy children only four days away, donations are continuing to pour in.
Last week, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline's 140 employees had a "soup day" to raise money for the Goodfellows Club.
They took in $1,000 by making and selling soup, sandwiches and deserts.
The company matched that amount for a total contribution of $2,000.
And the company says the "soup day" may become an annual event.
At the Wendell Foster Campus for Developmental Disabilities, residents and staff decided not to give each other gifts this year.
Instead, they collected $220 and donated the money to the Goodfellows Club -- and the children of Daviess County.
The Owensboro Public Schools Central Office Staff had the same idea. Instead of buying presents for each other, they donated the money they would spend to Goodfellows.
The total came to $1,465.
"Your organization does so much to help many of our students ... that we wanted to share what we have and show our support," Superintendent Larry Vick wrote.
And Eddie Jackson of Owensboro sent $100 with a note that said: "I'm giving back because I was one of these kids. Thanks."
You can also help keep the tradition alive by sending your donations to Goodfellows Club, Messenger-Inquirer, Box 1480, Owensboro, KY 42302 or bring them to the newspaper office at 1401 Frederica St.
