If you're looking for a place to eat lunch Thursday, consider the Fireside Room at Third Baptist Church at 527 Allen St.

The church, which is still recovering from an Oct. 18 tornado, will host the Goodfellows Club's fourth annual Community-Wide Soup Day for Kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"They really wanted to do it again this year, despite their problems," event chairwoman Mary Beth Hurley said of Third Baptist. "We're so glad they were able to."

Twenty restaurants will be providing soup and bread for the event.

Great Harvest Bread and Cracker Barrel will supply the bread, Hurley said.

The soup will come from Beef O'Brady's, Bob Evans, Briarpatch, Colby's, Daily Delicious, the Executive Inn River's Edge, Famous Bistro, Montana Mike's, Moonlite, Niko's, O'Charley's, Old Hickory, Ole South, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday, Texas Roadhouse and Tumbleweed Southwest Grill.

"Each restaurant will be making three to five gallons of soup for us," Hurley said. "Briarpatch is fixing their Hoppin' John. Colby's is making loaded potato soup. Moonlite is bringing bean soup. Famous Bistro is making its Famous Chicken soup. Red Lobster is bringing clam chowder. They're all bringing their best soup."

Last year's event, she said, drew about 300 diners and raised about $3,800 -- despite a light snow.

There is no charge for the meal. Donations for Goodfellows are accepted at the door.

"Everything goes to the kids," Hurley said.

Donations can be made to Goodfellows Club, Messenger-Inquirer, Box 1480, Owensboro, KY 42302 or by bringing contributions to the newspaper office at 1401 Frederica St.
