Guthrie will be in Owensboro today
U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie will be in Owensboro today for a 1 p.m. “Listening Session” in the Daviess Fiscal Court room on the second floor of the Daviess County Courthouse.
The stop is one of 21 the Bowling Green Republican is making in the 2nd District this month.
Guthrie’s office said people can “ask questions or offer ideas on what Congress should be doing” during the meeting.
A constituent services representative will be available to assist with any specific questions people may have about a federal agency or service.
Fire causes power outage for OMU customers
An equipment failure that caused a fire on a utility pole cross-arm resulted in about 700 Owensboro Municipal Utility customers losing power at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the areas of Surrey Drive East, Comanche Place, Chickasaw Drive and Scherm Road. OMU spokeswoman Sonya Dixon said most of the customers had their power restored within an hour, and all power was back on by 6:45 p.m.
Soldier denies allegations in wrongful death suit
ELIZABETHTOWN — A Fort Campbell soldier sued for wrongful death in the slayings of two women has denied the allegations in court documents and is asking that the lawsuit be dismissed.
Brent Burke says he did not kill his estranged wife, Tracy Burke, or her former mother-in-law, Karen Comer at Comer’s home in Rineyville in 2007, according to The News-Enterprise.
Burke has spent more than four years behind bars after being charged in the fatal shootings.
