Letters to the editor are an important way
for a community to establish a dialogue among its members and provide feedback
to the media. We strongly encourage readers to offer their opinions through letters
that focus on matters of public concern.
Due to space limitations in the printed
edition, no individual's work will be published more than once every calendar
month. If possible, letters should be kept to less than 250 words. Letters may
be edited for style, clarity, and length.
We require the writer's name,
address, and telephone number. Writers have the option of being identified
without a specific street address, unless leaving it out would create confusion
as to the letter writer's identity. If you do not want your specific street address
used, please note this in your letter.
We do not publish form letters, poetry,
letters written to other publications, letters from outside our area that are
not of direct local interest or letters about matters best dealt with in a private
or personal setting. We reserve to ourselves final judgment on all letters submitted
for publication.
Letters also may be sent by more conventional methods: Regular
