Owensboro police are investigating a shooting Friday night in a southwest neighborhood that left an 18-year-old man with several gunshot wounds.
And a 17-year-old is facing charges of first-degree assault and possession of a defaced firearm.
Officer Andrew Boggess said the man was shot at least once in the torso as well as other parts of his body.
He said he was unsure how many wounds the man sustained.
The man's name won't be released until Monday, Boggess said.
And the teen charged with the shooting won't be identified unless he is tried as an adult, he said.
Boggess said police got a call at 9:30 p.m. Friday about a burglary in the 2100 block of Carpenter Drive -- off Tamarack Road.
When they arrived at the house, the victim was lying in the front yard, he said.
The man was rushed to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Boggess said police have not yet determined if there was an actual burglary.
Several people were inside the house at the time, he said.
Boggess said there were conflicting statements from those inside the house.
Owensboro has seen a spate of shootings this year, including four homicides and at least three people seriously wounded.
