Roger Lynn Simon, 63, of Owensboro, passed away March 12, 2019, at Heartford House under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born Dec. 27, 1955, to Iona Rearden Simon and the late Jerome Simon.
Roger was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He enjoyed sports, especially watching UK basketball and the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his magic tricks along with his constant ability to make everyone laugh. His gentle soul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Roger, the youngest of seven children, also was preceded in death by an older brother, Don Simon.
Survivors also include a son, Robert Simon of Louisville; two grandchildren, Holly and Ethan; and one great-grandchild, Lilly. Roger also is survived by three brothers, Jerry Wayne Simon (Brenda), Daniel Bruce Simon (Robin) and Joseph Allen Simon (Peggy); two sisters, Brenda Faye Royal (Terry) and Sharon Kaye Layson (John) and six nieces and seven nephews. Roger will also be missed by his loving friend, Shelley Branham.
Services will be 6 p.m. Friday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Sinoj E. Pynadath officiating. Private burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
