A shortage of houses on the market continues to plague Kentucky Realtors.
The state organization says that if no more houses were placed on the market, the current supply would be exhausted in 3.1 months.
A healthy housing market should have a six-month supply, Kentucky Realtors said in a news release.
The shortage of houses on the market means higher prices for the ones available.
The median price of homes sold statewide in May was $140,813 -- up from $133,923 just 12 months earlier.
Kentucky Realtors said sales in May were up 5.6% -- from 5,064 to 5,346 houses.
That was the second-highest May sales number on record, the news release said.
