A Leitchfield social worker died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning.
At approximately 11:44 a.m. CT Sunday, Grayson County Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle crash near the intersection of KY 1133 and Blowtown Road.
Upon the responding Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputy’s arrival, the female driver, 41-year-old Crystal G. Willis, of Leitchfield, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a press release from Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins.
The deputy’s investigation revealed that Willis had been driving a 2014 black Nissan passenger car westbound on KY 1133 when the Nissan left the roadway on the westbound side and struck a concrete culvert. The vehicle then traveled down the ditch line and came to a final rest after it struck a concrete tile facing northwest.
Factors contributing to the crash are still under investigation by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
The initial investigation revealed that Willis was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the release states.
“Crystal had served Grayson County as a social worker for several years,” said Chaffins. “She had been called to duty and was responding to a child welfare complaint at the time of the crash.”
