Cougars fall to Bears in 12 District Championship 1

Grayson County’s Nolan Shartzer takes a jump shot during last Friday’s 12th District Championship game.

The Grayson County Cougars hosted the Butler County Bears last Friday night, where the Bears took home the 12th District Championship win.

With three of the Bears players scoring double digits, the Cougars were handed a 12-point loss.

The Bears immediately took the lead, which they maintained until the final. The first quarter ended at 12-6. The Bears then sent the Cougars to the locker room trailing by 7 at the half: 21-14. Having increased the lead to 14 by the end of third, the Cougars were unable to catch up.

Nolan Shartzer led with 24 points, followed by Chandler McCrady with 12 points. Brayden Childress put up 6 points, with Dillon Horn adding 4 points. Blanton River added 3 points and led with eight rebounds, with Chase Johnson adding 2 points.

Final score: 63-51.
