Now that Annsley Logsdon has graduated from high school, she's able to devote more time to her business at 700 Morton Ave. in Livermore, Moon River Coffee Bar.
Moon River will now be open from 7 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays and then again from 4 to 7 p.m on those days.
Since September 2017, Logsdon has been operating Moon River, a name that came from the song "Moon River." In 2018, the McLean County Chamber of Commerce named Logsdon its Entrepreneur of the Year at its annual awards banquet in April. Her coffee bar specializes in espresso drinks, which are made with coffee that is brewed using hot water at a high pressure. Typically, espresso is mixed with milk and other flavors to create a creamy, foamy coffee beverage.
Logsdon said she plans to attend Owensboro Community & Technical College and will remain in the area to work at the business.
"After that, I really don't know," said Logsdon. "I would like to get to a point where the business could run and I would not have to be here, though I do like working here," said Logsdon.
She recently added Lic's Ice Cream to the store in order to give more options to customers.
"Not everybody likes coffee," said Logsdon. "A lot of people do, but not everyone."
She plans on having live singing on Saturday nights, and she said she would also eventually like to add a smoothie line to the business.
Though she's pleased with the business she gets in Livermore, she said she is considering moving to Calhoun. She believes that the extra traffic from the downtown businesses as well as from people working at and visiting the courthouse would boost sales.
"I think I get good business for Livermore, but I think it could be better, and I don't think it's going to get much better over here," said Logsdon.
