OWENSBORO — Marlene Ann Wetzel Ashby, 75, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Heartford House in Owensboro. Mrs. Ashby was born June 7, 1939, in Rumsey. She was a retired school teacher with the Owensboro Public School System. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, was a school teacher for 30 years, and had a Rank I in teaching. She graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College and Western Kentucky University. She attended Owensboro Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Ashby; daughters Ruth Scanlan of Owensboro and Jann (Chad) Daugherty of Scottsville; grandchildren Megan (Will) Henness of Indianapolis, Ind. and Bradley Daugherty of Scottsville; great-grandchild Carter Henness of Indianapolis, Ind.; and brothers Gale (Nancy) Wetzel of Franklin and James Bennett (Beth) Wetzel of Radcliffe.

Funeral services were held  at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento, with Rev. Gale Wetzel officiating. Burial in West Union School House Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneral homes.com.
