An Owensboro man was charged with driving under the influence Monday night after his vehicle was struck by a train.

Owensboro Police Department reports said Matthew A. Boarman, 47, of the 4300 block of Plantation Pointe was driving west on Triad Drive at 9:56 p.m. Monday when he drove onto the train tracks at the intersection of Ewing Road.

Reports say Boarman told officers he did not see the railroad crossing lights. He said he looked west along the tracks but did not look east before attempting to cross.

Boarman's vehicle was struck by a CSX train. Boarman was not injured in the collision.
