Alvin "Catfish" Bailey Jr., 70, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. "Junior" was born Oct. 18, 1948, in Owensboro to Nettie Everly Bailey and the late Alvin Bailey Sr. He was a simple man who earned his GED and was a jack-of-all-trades. Junior was employed in the asphalt paving business and as a talented tinker, he enjoyed working on watches. But what he loved to do more than eat or sleep was to go fishing and would often be found on the riverbank where he earned his nickname, Catfish.

Survivors include his companion, Judith Towery of Owensboro; his mother, Nettie Everly Ringer of Linden, Texas; a brother, Steven Fairchild of Missouri; a sister, Brenda Bailey Storm of Owensboro; and many friends and fishing buddies.

Visitation for Alvin Bailey will be Monday from noon to 4 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. A private burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
