Rosella Whitsett, 88, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at her home. Born in Lyon County on July 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late David Francis and Lucille Freeman Cotton, was a 1949 graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy and retired from Sears where she worked in catalog sales for 17 years. She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and the Owensboro Lions Club. Mrs. Whitsett enjoyed reading, watching television, traveling and, most of all, spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Cotton Whitsett.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Thomas H. Whitsett; two sons, Thomas Michael (Susan) Whitsett of Asbury, Iowa, and David (Kelly) Whitsett of Owensboro; a grandson, Joseph Gray Whitsett of Baton Rouge; and three brothers, James (Charlotte) Cotton of Eddyville, David Cotton of Louisville and Tommy (Kay) Cotton of Princeton.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father John Vaughan officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Evening prayers will be 7 p.m. Monday.
