Parker Newby struck out 11 batters and didn't allow a hit as the Post 9 Owensboro Bombers took an 8-0 win over West Kentucky Elite in the Perfect Game super qualifier tournament on Saturday at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville.

Newby went all five innings and walked three batters in the process.

Collier Higgs led the Bombers (2-3) at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Brennon Williams added a pair of hits with an RBI and a run, and Wade Everley added two hits with an RBI.

Ian Ellis went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a home run, and Parker Stahlman was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored as the RiverDawgs won in Madisonville.

Bailey Falkenstein went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs for Owensboro (7-5), while Josh Bennett clubbed a two-run home run. Jacob White added two hits and two runs, Michael Wymann chipped in a pair of hits, and Kyle Hogwood scored three times.

The Miners fell to 4-7.

LOCAL GOLFACKERMAN HITS ACE AT WINDRIDGE

Ken Ackerman carded a hole-in-one on Thursday at Windridge Country Club.

Ackerman aced the No. 16, 120-yard hole using an 8-iron.

Witnesses to the feat, Ackerman's ninth career hole-in-one, were Paul Ackerman, Scott Connor and Mike Haire.
