The Henderson Flash scored four runs across the final two innings to escape with an 11-9 win over the Owensboro RiverDawgs on the opening day of the Ohio Valley League summer collegiate baseball season Friday night at Chautauqua Park's Independence Field.
Austin Domer went 3-for-6 with four RBIs for the Flash, including a solo home run to lead off the game.
Ian Ellis went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs to pace the RiverDawgs, while former Daviess County High School standout Kirk Liebert and former Hancock County High School standout Tanner Singleton drove in two runs apiece.
Owensboro jumped out to a 5-1 advantage through the first two innings, but Henderson answered with three runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings to take the lead.
The RiverDawgs loaded the bases in the seventh inning following a hit by pitch, an error and a walk, before Ellis clubbed a two-run single, Sam Rowan hit an RBI groundout and Jacob Hartline recorded an RBI base hit for a 9-7 Owensboro lead.
However, Henderson kept the RiverDawgs at bay from there, scoring four runs in the eighth and ninth innings to pull out the win.
Owensboro returns to action for its second home game in three days, as the RiverDawgs host the Franklin Duelers at 7 p.m.
